Our Approach

My Story

Hi, my name is Ann. I will tell you about myself later so that we can get acquainted. But first, most importantly,….this blog is about our current lifestyles. Are we living our "dream" or something way less? How did we get here? When we left home to start a new life, were we driven away because of circumstances? Maybe just led away by what looked like "greener grass." What happened?  Are you lonely? Do you wish things were different? I get it having lived miserably in a family until I left and happily in a family after returning. I will share my story with you later. It was hard, but it turned out good.

The reason I wanted to start this blog is that a few years ago, I was in a meeting and heard some parents talking about their children who had left home and never returned. The parents didn't understand why the children had left. They were blaming each other for the situation. All were hurt, angry, and unforgiving, having no hope of circumstances changing. I shockingly realized that I had, in many ways, been one of those children. The world calls these kids "prodigals" taken from a story in the Bible. That prodigal left home seeking a new life but ended up in a "pigpen" lifestyle and then finally coming home. We know this story well in some form. A TV show named "The Prodigal," songs about prodigals, maybe read it in the Bible, but we recognize it!

Sadly, I realized that some of us had been or now are lost children, myself included. Why did we leave…some of us physically, some retreated in our heads and hearts, why? Lots of questions needing careful thought with an honest heart. I've lived long enough and mended enough things with my family to have a few answers to pass along to those living a pigpen lifestyle.

Whether we are still in a pigpen or effected by it….. we all have a story to tell! Perhaps more than one. In this blog, we are going to ask lots of questions and share our individual stories.  I am expecting changes in all our lives. First question. What is a pigpen? Am I in one? Can I let my heart be free to look in the mirror of time and allow a true reflection to surface? Yes, we can! Hope is in the air here!
